So today has my first ever driving lesson with an instructor, ngl I was a little nervous beforehand but the lady I chose to go with was absolutely fantastic and put me at ease straight away. Personally, I chose a female instructor as I felt I'd feel much more comfortable and I'm very glad I did, it's down to the individuals preference but it made me feel much more relaxed and not worried about making mistakes. Just for reference the lesson was 1.5 hours long and I'm on a beginners course which is 6 hours for £50 and then £24 an hour after that.
The lesson started off with me showing her my provisional license and reading a number plate from a distance she then took me to a quiet road and we swapped seats. For a good while she talked though all of the basics of a car, making reference to a work book with photos, which was very useful, and she asked me various questions through out to see if I knew anything, she was quite surprised when I knew quite a lot as I'd been watching various LDC youtube videos (which I must add are VERY useful for new drivers). After talking through the cockpit drill etc. and making sure I was in a comfortable position it was time to move off. As I spoke about in my previous post I have been in a car with my mum twice which wasn't two successful so I was a little worried about moving off however she put me at such ease that I managed to smoothly move off without stalling which I was very proud of! Then to my amazement she kept telling my to keep accelerating and I ended up going up to third gear which really surprised me, I expected my first lesson to be extremely boring however it was fantastic. One thing I can't stress enough now I've had my first lesson is not to worry, after some pretty shit attempts with my mum my confidence was low however the right instructor can completely banish any worries that you have. My instructor told me I had done fantastic and was extremely pleased with the progress I had made in my first lesson - I was smiling like crazy after the lesson and I'm now so excited for the next!
